Nottingham is famous for Maid Marian, Brian Clough and for Lace production. However, the nightlife in Nottingham is pretty legendary too.
Nottingham has a fantastic selection of pubs and clubs located around Nottingham's newly refurbished market square, which makes travelling from one venue to the next a breeze. There is a great selection of pubs to suit all tastes, including the oldest pub in England, Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem, which got its name as it was a place where knights would gather before travelling off to fight in the crusades.
Nottingham also caters for the more trendy individual with some great bars which can be found in the Lace Market or Hockley areas of the city, including Dogma which has a free entry night on a Thursday and the Lizard Lounge which has a great selection of beers and cocktails.
If you are interested in the rock scene and live music, then Nottingham hosts Rock City which has built a reputation for being a great live venue and on a Thursday night the club offers 2 drinks for the price of 1 and alternative anthems every Saturday night.
For the serious clubbers, Nottingham offers Gatecrasher located on Queen Street, just off market square. The club has opened after a £1.5 million being spent on refurbishing a grade II listed building. The refurbishment has included using hand printed wall paper and classic furniture pieces, offering an opulent club setting. On a Saturday night the club hosts Fade, which is becoming one of the best club nights in the Midlands and is really putting Nottingham on the map as a clubbing city. Alternatively, you could try Stealth ,which plays House, Breaks, Techno and Drum and Bass. Stealth has played host to DJs and live bands such as Fabio, Grooverider, Lethal Bizzle, Dizzee Rascal and the Kaiser Chiefs to name just a few.
If you enjoy eating out, there are a number of quality restaurants to be found including Harts, which is an 80 seater up-market eatery and won the best restaurant in Nottingham award in 2009. If you enjoy Indian food then Memsaab, located on Maid Marian Way, is another excellent choice. The restaurant has won numerous Nottingham restaurant awards over the years and according to The Sunday Telegraph, May 2009;
"The smart venue with delicately spiced seasonal menus makes makes Memsaab a "Hot Indian".
